August 1, 2017
Beloved in Christ,
This is a month of new beginnings! As was announced in the June issue of The Chimes, we are in a period of transition with several beginnings and endings this month within our church staff. I write to you now to share with you the fruits of much searching, working, praying, and discerning as we embrace the happenings about to take place!
1) At the end of August, we will be blessings our beloved Office Administrator of 19 years, Pam Frenier, as she embarks on the adventure of retirement. While we are all saddened to see her leave, we celebrate all that she has been to our church over the past two decades and thank her for it! Pam’s last day as Office Administrator will be August 31st.
2) With the approval and blessing of the Trustees, we will be welcoming our next Office Administrator, Janet Leonard, to our staff! Janet will begin working with us on August 22nd and will spend two weeks shadowing Pam, gleaning from her many years of faithful service.
3) With the approval and blessing of the Christian Education Committee, we will be welcoming our new Church School Teacher & Coordinator, Colleen Crowley, to our staff! Colleen will officially begin working with us in mid-August as she starts to plan and will be a visible presence in our congregation beginning on September 10th when Church School will commence for the 2017-2018 year.
As with all transitions, we will want to gather, celebrate, and bless these new beginnings! On Sunday, August 20th, we will officially welcome Janet and Colleen during our worship service. On Sunday, August 27th, we will honor Pam’s time serving among us and bless her retirement as we gather for a celebratory potluck after worship!
In this time of beginnings and endings, I find myself extremely thankful for the past and for the ways it has brought us faithfully to this point. I am appreciative of the present and of every opportunity to embrace and serve in “the now”. And, I am grateful and excited for what the future holds as we journey onward in continued ministry! Through our prayers and our presence, may we all support these new beginnings. May God guide us through this time as we serve doing what we do best: shining the light of Christ from the heart of Wiscasset! Blessings,
Rev. Josh Fitterling
MEET OUR NEW STAFF MEMBERS
Colleen Crowley – Church School Teacher & Coordinator Colleen is a resident of Bowdoinham, ME. She has much experience in working with children including her time at the Portland Public Library and her current work in the Lewiston Schools. She is a person of great faith, having some connection with the Congregational Church as well as experience with the Friends (Quakers). She loves creating curriculum, teaching through stories, and is very flexible when it comes to class sizes from week to week. She embodies our church's identity as an Open & Affirming Congregation and is very passionate about integrating her love for teaching kids with her love for the teachings of Jesus!
Janet Leonard – Church Office Administrator Janet spent much of her career in publishing, living in Bremen, ME for the last 8 years. She has a love for music and serves as the Music Director of the Bremen Union Church. She is a mother of two grown daughters and a grandmother of a toddler grandson.
