The First Congregational Church of Wiscasset held its 26th
Annual Summerfest, from 9am to 2pm on Saturday, July 25th on the Town Common.
It was
a fun filled event in which nearly everyone in the church participates; either working all year sewing, knitting, crafting,
or building wooden items for sale; scouring their homes for jumble, treasures, jewelry, toys or books; growing plants and
baking goodies; approaching businesses for auction items, providing fun for the children with games or serving delicious food
in the cafeteria. It would not be possible without the Roustabouts who set everything up and then it down. The
Common jumps with the jazzy beat of the Ragtime Rascals. This year our entertainment also included Mr. Duncan - on the
bagpipes, barber shoppers - Senior Momentum, as well as a puppet show put on by our very own Sunday School. Everyone
enjoys working together and has a great time.
But, the best part of Summerfest and what makes
it even more worthwhile is that it is all done for others. All the proceeds from Summerfest are given away.
ALL PROCEEDS ARE DONATED TO AREA CHARITIES FOR THE IMPROVEMENT OF THE COMMUNITY! Summerfest Committee announced
the amount Summerfest 2009 raised was $6600 for 21 local outreach programs. Proceeds distributed to the Agencies on
October 25th during Worship Service.
