"Our Time - Our Turn"
The 2010 Capital Campaign History of "Our Time - Our Turn" (From campaign pamphelt
publish September 2010)
"Our Time - Our Turn" is the name that our Capital Campaign Committee has selected
for our upcoming capital campaign. Now, just what does that mean? It means that it is now the current members' turn to
contribute and get involved with this capital campaign. In the history of our church there have been times when members have
gotten together to improve the physical property of our church for the comfort, enjoyment and use by all members. In most
instances, it is a few members who make substantial contributions but the successful campaigns are ones where all members
are involved, take the project personally and contribute to the best of their abilities. As current members, it is truly our
time to take a turn at being involved.
Back in January of 1822, eighty women of the Parrish formed a social and
benevolent association to gather contributions for the purchase of a stove. They succeeded and in March, a stove was set up
in the meetinghouse.
On the evening of December 21, 1907, a fire destroyed the meetinghouse. Two groups set about
raising the necessary funds to rebuild the meetinghouse. They also were successful. The new building was dedicated on July
27, 1909 totally free of debt. Now we all have the opportunity to make further improvements.
